Green Handicraft Initiative Making Great Strides

Green Handicraft Initiative, one of Sparkseed’s ventures, has announced they have changed their name to Chuan1Chuan meaning “Put on Sichuan Clothes” in Chinese.  However, this isn’t the only major change Chuan1Chuan has been making.

Chuan1Chuan has taken major steps in achieving their goal of introducing the production processes for their environmentally sustainable handkerchiefs and cloth bags to the villagers of Daping.  They have organized a 10-day workshop to train 20 women in Daping to use hand-operated machinery, added 9 additional embroidery machines and other equipment to the workplace, and selected and trained 3 village leaders to independently oversee the embroidery process.  Global Village of Beijing will be filming a documentary about their work in Daping which will include Chuan1Chuan as well.  This documentary will be screened at the COP15 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.

With great progress on the production side, Chuan1Chuan is now looking towards the future with its sales and marketing strategy.  Chuan1Chuan has begun to build relationships with manufacturers and distributors in the Sichuan province in preparation to sell its products next year.  In addition to this, Chuan1Chuan has plans to launch its own website to get the word out to Chinese consumers about Chuan1Chuan and will later serve as a sales platform in the future.

Chuan1Chuan is positioning itself for great success in the future.  By establishing partnerships with organizations such as the China Green Companies of the China Entrepreneur Club, Sohu.com, and Lifestyle Magazine, Chuan1Chuan will be increasing its brand awareness throughout China.  Additionally, Chuan1Chuan has received over $17,000 in financial support from various donors including the Clinton Global Initiative, Northwestern University, and The One Foundation.  Chuan1Chuan continues to thrive with hard work from its team and wide network of supporters.  Learn more about Chuan1Chuan.
